I am so excited to share this information!!! Yes, I love to cook and bake but I am always trying to learn of ways to make it healthier and more natural. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to be attending such a great school that teaches me all these little things. I am so excited and happy to learn so I may not only achieve my goals but most of all be able to help others!
Agave Nectar- it is a natural sweetened nectar made from the juice of agave cactus. It is 1.4 times sweeter than sugar. It is great for dressings and adding to lemon water.
Brown Rice Syrup- It tastes like moderately sweet butterscotch. It is great to put on rice cakes as a "healthier" sweet snack.
Date Sugar- It is finely ground dehydrated dates so it keeps the vitamins minerals and *fiber. If you like the taste of dates or are like me and need extra fiber this is great for you! Plus, it can be used as direct replacement for sugar and comes in granulated form.
Honey- great and one of the oldest natural sweeteners. Make sure when you are buying honey that you buy raw honey. Raw honey contains small amounts of enzymes minerals and vitamins.
Maple Syrup- When buying make sure you buy 100% maple sugar and not maple-flavored corn syrup. Real maple syrup contains many minerals.
Molasses- Organic molasses is the best way to go since is has the most nutrients. The best is Blackstrap molasses for its good source of iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
Stevia- It is a leafy herb found in South America it is 100 to 300 times sweeter than white sugar. It can be used for cooking baking and more. It is zero calories and has no affect on blood sugar levels.
Sucanat- Short for sugar cane naturals, it consists of evaporated organic cane juice made threw a mechanical rather than chemical process. It has many minerals and can be used as a direct replacement of white sugar.
