New Years Eve 2012

2012 Coming to an end

I think that every year we go through and we have all of our ups and downs... We may get anxious and excited for the New Year or maybe we get a little sad and scared to let the year pass. Either way I encourage you to try this exercise.

Through out the day today think of a few things.....


What Blessings has 2012 brought me?

What Challenges has 2012 Brought me?

What Laughs and Tears 2012 Brought me?

What could I have done differently in 2012?

How did I grow in 2012?

What would I like to see in 2013?

How can I achieve these goals in 2013?

Who can help me stay on track with these goals threw 2013?

Who do I want to be and/ or what  have I achieved by December 31, 2013?

Now you may want to take time to write these down and I encourage you to share these with your loved ones and maybe even try to make these gaols together!

Just remember! "Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is a Gift that is why it is called the Present"! So DREAM!!!!! Make your Dreams a reality by setting your goals and working on them. Yes it is okay to slip and maybe even fall a little but as long as you get back up and try to climb that Mt. that is all that matters, every little foot step!!

Those Holiday Pounds

For all of those that are discouraged by the "extra" pounds of the holidays.. Do Not Be! 

We all gain weight in the winter it is a survival mechanism we inherited from our ancestors. So embrace your weight and take the stairs or opt for veggies instead of French Fries but whatever you do, do not be discouraged by those pounds! We all have them!! 

Take this time to spend with your friends and family and just enjoy them and their company!!!

Know what you are Worth and Never give up!!

Nothing is Stronger then Human Will Power! 

I find that it is so easy to give into downtrodden thoughts. Once we have one, more and more just seem to keep coming so I say stop it at the door! We are capable of doing so many things and what stops us? Bad thoughts! Now I know sometimes others put those thoughts into our mind but either way we choose to listen or not. Here are a few great exercises to prevent such thoughts!

When you are ready to give into saddening thoughts:

  1. Take a Deep breath in and nice and slowly release that breath repeat 3 times 
  2. Take a moment keep breathing and slowly count down from 10
  3. Repeat in your head "I am smart, I am kind, I am loved person, and I love myself"
  4. Clear your mind and Start brain storming!

 When you are ready to start making your goals:

  1. Take out a piece of paper and just start writing whatever comes to you
  2. After you feel like you have put everything on your paper read threw and circle things that are repeated or you feel is a high priority
  3. Take those top 3 things and wright those down on a new piece of paper
  4.  Under each topic write down 3 things that you can do to achieve that goal
  5. Now that you have your 3 top goals and 3 ways to achieve each goal set aside a time to work on them
  6. Then set a deadline for each individual goal! 
Make sure you work on 1 goal at a time! If you take on too much you may feel overwhelmed and may not achieve as much and or as quickly.

When you feel that you cannot achieve your Goals or you have hit a wall:

  1. Take a Deep breath in and nice and slowly release that breath repeat 3 times
  2. Repeat in your head "I am strong, I can do this, and I deserve this"! 
  3. Then Clear your mind and Start Achieving your goals! 
For those that find this silly or pointless... I challenge you to try it and truly put an effort forth! You may surprise yourself!

Spicy Tomatoe Sauce

Spice up your Italian Night!

What you need: Sauce pan, wooden spoon, pot, strainer, knife, food processor or blender

Ingredients:
1 package (16oz) of Wheat Spaghetti or Penne pasta
1 Can (28oz) Organic Italian Style or Fire Roasted Tomatoes
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
2 Cloves of Garlic minced 
1 Teaspoon crushed Red Pepper Flakes
2 Tablespoons Fresh Parsley Chopped
1 Tablespoon Tomato Paste

Directions:
Cook pasta and drain as directed.
Poor Tomatoes and juice into food processor or blender mix until coarsely chopped.
In Saucepan heat oil over medium heat. Caramelize garlic then add red peppers and parsley. Be careful the red pepper flakes burn quickly! Stir in tomatoes and tomato paste. Heat to a boiling then reduce heat, cover and let simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened. Add noodles and mix till sauce noodles are coated evenly.

Get Over your Cold in 3 Days!


It is that time of year again, make it easier on you and get over your cold quick!!
I got a really bad cold on Sunday my throat hurt so bad I could not even talk. Everyone told me that they had the same thing and it took weeks to get over. Well I was 100% back to normal by Wednesday. Here are the steps and tools I used to heal so quickly.

Now some of these are obvious solutions but I think it is nice to be reminded and that if you actually fallow threw that you can heal quicker!

  • Lots and Lots of Sleep and Rest! I slept probably 10-15 hours a day/night. Stay down I know it is hard but it is better to spend a couple days on the couch then weeks of feeling crummy.
  • Lots of Liquids which this actually gets a little tricky... I believe that Gatorade and Juices actually can make you worse... Those are just chemicals and sugar that you are putting in your body and added sugar to your blood stream is going to make it harder to let your body rest and sleep.WATER is key
    • Lots of Hot Water with Lemon and Decaffeinated Herbal teas! I prefer Acai, Peppermint, and Green Tea. You should be drinking every Ten Minutes
  • Lots of Soup! Try and make it as homemade as possible. Now homemade broth has many steps so I prefer Bouillon cubes. It taste better and all you have to do is add it to boiling water. Instead of noodles try and add White beans and Vegetables. 
  • Vitamins!!! If you already have vitamin regiments then keep with it! I take a multivitamin, calcium, vitamin C & D. 
  • Keep Moisturized! Humidifier helps moisturize and flush all the bad out. If you do not own a humidifier then take a pot fill full of water and let water boil. Then safely place your head over pot into the steam. Another great way to moisturize is to take  Q-tips and put into Mineral Oil then gently use on nose and ears. Sounds funny but it will really help. Warm wash cloth. When lying on the couch take the time to rest a hot wash cloth on your eyes.
  • The lasting I do is I actually own an Earthling Sheet www.grounded.com. This mat has done wonders for Seth and me! Better sleep, quicker heal time, and less sore muscles. If you live in warmer weather you can outside and walk on the grass or sit in a lawn chair and place bear feet on grass for 20 minutes. Please only do this if you are in very warm weather!  
So those are the steps that I took and I believe to make you Happy and Healthy and over your cold in 3 Days!!!
